by Robin Allen
This pattern is paired with Drops Nepal, Worsted weight yarn. Drops Nepal is a lovely luxurious yarn spun in 35% superfine alpaca and 65% Peruvian Highland wool, a mix that accentuates the softness of alpaca while the wool contributes to the garments’ shape stability. Both fibers are untreated, which means that they are only washed and not exposed to any chemical treatment prior to the dyeing. This highlights the fibers’ natural properties, providing also a better shape and texture qualities.
About the Pattern
Interesting knitting begins right away with a two-colour corrugated ribbing. Following a plain round of knitting, the Norwegian-inspired hearts are brought to life with stranded colour work. After a two-colour purl turning round, you’re on to the crown decreases, either in the contrasting colour or in the main colour. The entire brim is stranded, which doubles the thickness and makes the hat warm, warm, warm.
Advanced. Knitting, purling, decreasing, working in the round, two-colour stranded (Fair Isle), knitting, working from a chart.
