Continental Knitting Workshop

Learn how to knit Continental style.
Do you want to give your hand a rest from throwing the yarn? Do you want to gain some speed in knitting? Then why don’t you learn to knit in Continental (aka German) style?

Continental knitting is a style which the knitter holds the yarn with the non-dominant hand. Many knitters find this method a lot quicker and crocheters who are learning how to knit often find learning continental more natural for their hands. Because this style holds the yarn in the non-dominant hand, there is no need to move the yarn in front or behind the needles in order to switch between knitting and purling. Instead, the yarn is either placed above or below the needle in the non-dominant hand. To form a stitch the knitter just twirls the wrist to catch the yarn.

➢ Bring a small ball of yarn (min 20g) in solid or semi-solid colour and needles in size
recommended for your yarn of choice;

➢ At the end of this workshop you’ll know how to knit and purl two ways.
Pre-requirements: This workshop is designed for people who know how to knit and purl.
Duration: 1.5 hours, one session.

Workshop is limited to 4 students (min of 2 students) and it takes place in Cosy Yarns & Gifts Studio.
